Takeda Wins Good Design Award

Medical Devices

Takeda has won the Industrial Design Promotion Organisation's Good Design Award 2009 for the blister card packaging of its Benet 17.5 mg tablets, it has revealed.

The packaging of Benet, which is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis, also received the Packaging Contest Appropriate Packaging Award from the Japan Packaging Institute in September 2009.

Benet, which is available in blister card packaging with one tablet per sheet, also has its administration dates indicated in large, bold lettering on both sides of the packet.

This design is intended to prevent misuse of the product among elderly patients.

In December of last year, the packaging was made easier to disassemble for disposal and was enhanced with a universal Braille code.

Earlier this month, Takeda revealed plans to set up four new commercial subsidiaries in Europe, covering countries such as Belgium, Turkey, Luxembourg, Sweden and Denmark.
